PROJECT NAME: PELLI TOWERS, LAS VEGAS, NV

The City Center is a 76 acre mixed-use complex (16,797,000 square feet (1,560,500 m2), currently under construction by MGM Mirage on the Las Vegas Strip in the Las Vegas metropolitan area.

Malcolm Drilling was selected on the basis of cost and schedule to construct the drilled shaft foundations on several hotel/condominium towers on the City Center Project. Although the entire scope of work encompassed over 2,500 shafts up to 120 feet in depth, the crowning achievement for this project was the construction of the Pelli Tower foundation piles in just 32 days – compromised of 442 shafts, the majority of which were 4 feet in diameter and averaged 112 feet in length. To accomplish this feat, Malcolm Drilling utilized four Bauer BG-40 drill rigs, working 12 hours per day.

Other buildings and structures on the project included the VDARA condominium, the Harmon Flyover Bridge, the Convention Center, the Podium structure and the Showroom Theatre.
