We are hiring for the following position:

Job Title: Senior Purchasing Agent

City, State: Irwindale, CA

Purpose of the position

The Sr. Purchasing Agent coordinates activities involved with procuring goods and services, such as raw materials, equipment, tools, parts, and supplies. This would include sourcing and negotiating with vendors and suppliers to obtain the best terms for quality, delivery and price for the required goods or services.

Scope

The Purchasing Agent reports to the District Manager and is responsible for implementing and support of the company’s procurement negotiation plans for entering into purchasing relationships with selected suppliers.

Job Responsibilities:

1. Responsible for compliance with applicable Corporate and Divisional Policies and procedures.

Main Activities:

  • Seek, develop & maintain business relationships with suppliers and clients
  • Review quotes that have been supplied by the Estimating Department for design specific parts and locate the best supplier.
  • Obtain price quotes and purchase all required materials and parts for the project
  • Negotiate prices and availability with vendors for all purchased items. Research and initiate the use of new vendors.
  • Manage inventory of stocked items / parts
  • Coordinate with suppliers for delivery of materials to coincide with requirements of the shop and / or jobsite
  • Develop & maintain an inventory management system to ensure that common purchased parts and material are available when needed. Maintain accurate inventory list of material.
  • Manage the tracking and approval of all invoices for correct prices & quantities
  • Process all return goods and ensure that the firm is issued proper credit
  • Assist with the purchase of all large ticket items for the facility (i.e. machine tool equipment, building additions / modifications, etc.)
  • Assign Purchase Orders, review and sign completed Purchase Orders
  • Expedite orders at panic & back order
  • Follow up on past due orders
  • Perform on-going analysis and cost reductions to ensure the lowest overall cost and highest possible value for dollars spent
  • Responsible for daily management of support personnel, manage warehouse staff
  • Enter Vendor, Purchasing information and adjustments in Purchasing Plus
  • Backup for Purchasing Assistant (receivers & invoices)
