Cool Wells

This is the season at Clear Air Force Station in Alaska where Malcolm is working through frozen ground to install deep cooling wells. These wells are designed to pump up to 3,000 gallons of water per minute to keep several radar towers in operation year around. Each large diameter well is drilled utilizing specialized Leffer drilling casing for the full 300-foot well depth. Installation in 20 degrees below freezing takes several days – a challenge even for the most resilient and dedicated crew. We are on track to complete this project right after the holidays.
