Setting Standards

Excavation Stabilization Near the Great Salt Lake

With flexible design intended to adapt to the changing aviation industry, the Salt Lake City International Airport Redevelopment Project has set the standard for the next generation of hub airport facilities.

Malcolm Drilling has been involved in the foundation work on this project since it broke ground in 2014. Most recently, Malcolm installed more than 7,500 stone columns, temporary excavation shoring using our triple-auger soil mixing technique, and deep dewatering system including recharge wells. Our ultimate goal is to deliver a shored excavation with a stable subgrade sufficient for heavy equipment and rock trucks to access the bottom of the excavated site.
