BNSF Grand River Bridge Replacement Project

The BNSF Grand River Project involved replacing the existing bridge with a new double-track structure spanning the Grand River. The design required four new piers, each supported by two drilled shafts. The 8-foot-diameter shafts extended through overburden and 35 feet into bedrock, with permanent steel casing needed to anchor into the rock. Access was limited due to the proximity of the piers to the existing bridge and the nearby river. The contract also required the use of oscillators during casing installation to minimize vibrations on the existing bridge structure.
