At Clear Air Force Station in Alaska, Malcolm worked through frozen ground to install deep cooling wells. These wells pump up to 3,000 gallons of water per minute to keep several radar towers in operation year around. Each large diameter well was drilled utilizing specialized Leffer drilling casing for the full 300-foot well depth. Installation in 20 degrees below freezing temperatures took several days – a challenge for even the most resilient and dedicated crew.
