The Metro Purple Line Subway Extension is extending the existing subway system nine miles to the west in three phases. The project envisions providing a green, reliable, high-speed form of transportation through destinations in LA such as Beverly Hills while reducing congestion on the roads. Malcolm has further advanced its reputation as a leader in ground improvement and specialty drilling from the start of the project as we work in some of the tightest and logistically challenging work areas imaginable. Coordination, creativity and willingness to adapt to new conditions has become the norm for those involved.

This project involves installing earth-stabilizing jet grout blocks for the Tunnel Boring Machines (TBM) and mining activity that will follow as construction of the subway proceeds. Four (4EA) break-in/break-out jet grout blocks and 14 cross-passage jet grout blocks (Composed of 624 individual jet grout columns in all) have been installed using our Bauer BG15H and METAX 720 SP pump unit.
