Transforming the Riverfront in Santa Cruz, CA
Situated along the San Lorenzo River in downtown Santa Cruz, California, the Riverfront Project is a development that comprises three 7-story residential apartment buildings supported by a continuous concrete podium over one basement level. Vertical walls were strategically positioned along the levee right-of-way, extending approximately 10 feet below the existing grade to accommodate the proposed below-grade parking. Malcolm was chosen to install the support of excavation, ground improvement below the podium, and dewatering needed for the excavation.
Malcolm’s responsibility included installing 3-foot in diameter Vibro-Stone Columns to depths of up to 65 feet, Cutter Soil Mix (CSM) panels of up to 50 feet depth for the shoring, and as a water cut-off wall.
