Foundations for the MSG Sphere: Malcolm Drilling’s CFA Pile Innovation in Las Vegas
Standing over 360 ft tall, the Sphere at The Venetian in Las Vegas is the world’s largest spherical structure and a one-of-a-kind entertainment destination. Its 366-ft-high structure, featuring a unique wrap-around LED video display, sits on foundations installed by Malcolm Drilling. Malcolm also provided a value-engineering proposal to utilize 24-in CFA piles instead of the commonly used drilled shafts to effectively penetrate the caliche layers typically found in Las Vegas.
