1401 Brickell Avenue – Santander Tower
The Santander Tower is a new 41-story office building at 1402 Brickell Avenue in Miami, FL. We were contracted to improve the ground before basement excavation could begin and to install foundation piles. Deep Soil Mixing (DSM) elements were constructed around the perimeter of the excavation as a gravity wall designed to provide slope support during excavation. Over 15,000 cubic yards of soil was treated to safely facilitate excavation and dewatering of a secondary elevator pit.
The project also featured the installation of 337 large-diameter CFA piles, some configured as MBE (Mega Bearing Elements), creating high-capacity bearing elements capable of supporting significant structural loads. Following the deep foundation work, the team excavated the main mat area, multiple excavators and pile chippers were used to prepare a clean final foundation system to enable the placement of the underground main mat foundation concrete pour.
